Pakal

Handcrafted Maple Wood Wall Sculpture | 2021

Maple Wood, pigments

15" diameter

Pakal the Great ruled the ancient Mayan city of Palenque in the 7th century, overseeing one of the most culturally and architecturally prolific eras in Mayan history. His legacy includes structures so advanced and refined, they still inspire awe today.

In this piece, his presence is carved at the center—stylized yet regal. Surrounding him are glyph-like patterns, temple-step motifs, and textures that echo the stonework and celestial alignment of ancient Mesoamerican design. The circular composition invites both reverence and reflection.
