I’m honored to share that my work was featured on the cover of the American Woodturner Journal, the official publication of the American Association of Woodturners (AAW). It’s a dream many wood artists share, and this milestone reflects years of learning, community, and passion for the craft.

Gratitude and Behind-the-Scenes

A heartfelt thank-you to my friend and fellow artist Derek Weidman for writing the article, to Joshua Friend for his editorial insight. I’m grateful to everyone who contributes to making The American Woodturner Journal such a beautiful and inspiring publication for our community.

The Early Days — Chicago Woodturners and Finding Community

I still remember joining my local club, the Chicago Woodturners, where I met incredible mentors and lifelong friends. That community taught me not just techniques, but the deeper meaning of craftsmanship — something that continues to shape every piece I create at Ferrer Studio.

Looking Back — and Forward

When I first learned about the American Association of Woodturners (AAW), I dreamed of one day seeing my work among its pages or demonstrating at a national symposium.

It took time, patience, and many shavings, but I’m grateful for every step of the journey. Thank you all for your support — now it’s time to get back to the lathe.

If you’d like to see "Pakal" the piece featured on the cover, you can visit the Gallery section of my website.

I also share more about upcoming workshops, demos, and behind-the-scenes studio work on my newsletter — join here to stay connected.
